About ZaneHRA

ZaneHRA™ is a robust web-based SaaS (software-as-a-service) platform that allows employers to manage personal health policies and/or provide real-time reimbursement of employee medical expenses. ZaneHRA functions as a complete standalone employer health benefits program or as a supplement to an existing group health benefits plan. ZaneHRA is SAS70 approved and complies with all applicable HIPAA, ERISA and U.S. Treasury regulations. See What is ZaneHRA?

Although government regulations now allow employers to reimburse employees for premiums on personal health policies, without ZaneHRA it would be virtually impossible for employers to comply with HIPAA, ERISA, U.S.Treasury and individual state insurance regulations governing such reimbursements.

Employers open and manage their ZaneHRA completely online, electronically enroll participants and print welcome kits, and monitor expenses and reimbursements in real-time. Employees obtain their own personal health policies, typically from independent licensed health insurance agents who may also be authorized resellers or benefits consultants for ZaneHRA. ZaneHRA does not sell health insurance.

Employees using ZaneHRA submit premium and medical expenses online, via fax, or mail, and receive same-day reimbursement via check, payroll addition, or direct deposit. Some employers use ZaneHRA to save money on group health policies by raising the annual deductible and reimbursing employees in real-time for their under-deductible medical expenses.

ZaneHRA is distributed by leading health insurance carriers, payroll providers, and financial service institutions, and has been featured in numerous publications ranging from the front-page of The Wall St. Journal (2007) to USA Today (2008). See In the News.

ZaneHRA was developed in 2006 by the same team (Zane Benefits, Inc.) that founded Extend Health, Inc. in 1999. Zane Benefits serves primarily smaller employers (10-500 employees) while Extend Health serves primarily retiree populations (e.g. GM, Ford and Chrysler) as well as employer clients of Sam's Club Wal-Mart.  See bio of Paul Zane Pilzer, founder of Zane Benefits and Extend Health.
